Happy New Year. Here’s to a prosperous year for your company. If you haven’t updated your ERP accounting software solution for 5 or more years, this really should be the year you re-exam the potential ROI of upgrading. Let’s take a look at 3 categories you should look at incorporating in your upgraded ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) in the New Year.
ERP ON THE GO
Look, before 10 years ago, you had a flip phone. With the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 you now have a computer in your pocket. If you aren’t running your current ERP system from your phone or tablet, it won’t be long before you should. Just look at your current management team. If any of them are wearing an Apple Watch or a FitBit, they’re ready for it. If no members are wearing one of those devices perhaps you may want to add younger members to your management team so your company can keep up on technology.
TRUE ERP ANALYSIS
Whether it’s your budget or other financial documents, humans are often times visual creatures. "A picture is worth a thousand words." is true now more than ever. Looking at paper or PDF reports won't be sufficient to keep up with, or overtake, your competition. Your ERP should not only provide visual analysis of your data, but with a single button provide "what if" evaluations. Here’s an example: https://www.erpoutsidethebox.com/maestro-suite-by-centage/.
CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE
Until recently you couldn’t even consider moving to the cloud because you had a legacy application that only runs on premise or maybe is still running under DOS! Advancements now allow many of those programs to transition to a cloud infrastructure. You should be able to obtain a flat fee per workstation that covers all your regulatory, compliance and other needs that easily scales as you grow. You reduce your technology spend to a cash flow equations instead of a large capital outlay. If you want that cloud option but haven’t because of the legacy app, talk to me about your options.
As I stated, these aren't predictions, it is reality NOW. So why aren't you taking advantage of them? Could it be your ERP isn't as modern as you thought it was? Make changes this year to modernize your ERP, one way or another.
